Commissioning of DUKC System at Saqr Port

RAK Ports has commissioned the Dynamic Under Keel Clearance System (DUKC®) for Saqr Port, which will be available for use from January 1st, 2020.

DUKC® optimises the amount of cargo that any vessel can load by accurately determining the maximum safe sailing draft for that vessel, given the conditions on the day.

This is achieved by digitally replicating the port with DUKC®. The DUKC® incorporates detailed modelling of the shipping operations, numerical analysis of ship motions, hydrodynamic models, channel survey data, and the assimilation of real-time and forecast environmental conditions.

DUKC® has safely facilitated 170,000+ transits for 120 ports, terminal and waterways, including the world’s largest bulk export ports. With more than 640 full scale ship measurements, is the most comprehensively validated UKC management system available.

The fees for using the system are as follows :

For inner Harbor, a fee of AED. 4,000/- fixed up to 10cm draft benefit plus AED. 400/- per additional cm thereafter up to a maximum of AED. 16,000/- per vessel; For Deep-Water Bulk Terminal, a fee of AED. 4,000/- fixed up to 5cm draft benefit plus AED. 800/- per additional cm thereafter up to a maximum of AED. 16,000/- per vessel; where the benefits are assessed against the existing maximum drafts and UKC limits defined in RAK Ports document Ruling Depths and Under keel Clearances

Shipping agents are requested to inform all Vessel Masters, Owners, Operators, Managers and Principals about the newly introduced system and advise them to make an advantage of system for optimum efficiency.

For information on how to apply to use DUKC®, contact the Harbor Master’s Dept.
